Digital Designer
About Maurten
Maurten fuels the fastest to gold medals and world records. Using patented Maurten Hydrogel Technology, athletes can more easily tolerate sports fuel while training and racing. The innovation allows carbohydrates to be encapsulated in hydrogel and transported smoothly to the intestines where they are broken down and used as fuel. Combining research–driven development alongside feedback from runners, cyclists, and triathletes, Maurten’s fueling ecosystem enables all humans to become greater athletes.
Maurten is moving fast. We’re looking for people who share our passion for sport — and who want to shape the way athletes around the world fuel.
About the position
The Digital Designer at Maurten will play a central role in shaping the experience, interface, and visual quality of Maurten's digital products within the Sports Tech team. With a clear focus on design, the role is responsible for ensuring Maurten's design strategy is applied and translated cohesively across all digital products — from live platforms to new initiatives in development.
Working at the intersection of product, design, and technology, the Digital Designer will translate user needs, product requirements, and technical constraints into intuitive, high-quality digital experiences. The role requires strong creative judgement combined with practical product thinking, and will work closely with developers, product stakeholders, and the wider Sports Tech team to ensure digital experiences are visually strong, functional, and scalable.
Reporting to the Design team and working in close collaboration with the Digital Designer in the Marketing Design team, this role bridges design and Sports Tech — ensuring digital experiences meet both usability demands and Maurten's wider visual standards. It is suited to someone comfortable working across UX, UI, interaction design, and iterative product development in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Job responsibilities
The Digital Designer is responsible for designing, improving, and scaling Maurten's digital product ecosystem alongside an in-house Digital Designer. This means creating user-centred designs, maintaining design quality and consistency, and building the systems that allow product design to grow coherently. The role balances hands-on execution with collaborative problem-solving, working across interface design, user flows, prototyping, and iterative development within a cross-functional team.
Build and Maintain the Digital Design System: Own the development and ongoing maintenance of a unified design system across all Maurten digital products — including components, patterns, tokens, and documentation — ensuring consistency, scalability, and efficient designer-developer collaboration.
Design and Improve Live Digital Products: Support the ongoing enhancement of existing digital products through interface improvements, feature design, and iterative optimization.
Ensure Cohesive Design Strategy: Ensure Maurten's design strategy is consistently applied and translated across all digital touchpoints, maintaining a coherent visual and interactive language throughout the product ecosystem.
Create User-Centred Product Flows: Develop wireframes, user journeys, mock-ups, and polished UI designs that make complex ideas simple and usable for athletes and practitioners.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with developers, product stakeholders, and the Design team to align digital product design with technical, scientific, and brand needs.
Prepare Design Assets for Development: Deliver clear, production-ready design files, specifications, and handover materials to support efficient implementation.
Support Testing and Iteration: Refine designs based on feedback from stakeholders, testing, and real-world product use.
Who you are:

Strong experience designing digital products, interfaces, and user flows for web or app-based products.
Proficiency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries.
A solid grasp of responsive design, accessibility, and digital design best practices.
Experience working in cross-functional product teams, alongside developers and product stakeholders.
How you work:
You have strong visual judgement and a high bar for clarity, simplicity, and craft.
You keep the user at the centre, turning complex requirements into intuitive experiences.
You're comfortable in an iterative, fast-moving product environment.
You're collaborative and proactive across technical, scientific, and creative teams.
You communicate clearly, can articulate the rationale behind your decisions, and respond constructively to feedback.
Is this you?
If you’re interested in joining Maurten, submit your application — in English. We apply a continuous selection process, and the job post will be open until the position is filled. Response times may be longer during the summer period, but we will get back to you once the team is back.

About Maurten
In 2015, we found a way to make sports fuels easier to tolerate, by encapsulating carbohydrates in hydrogels.
The method was so successful, that one year later, some of the world's best marathoners were fuelling their training sessions and competitions with our technology. It’s the science that has taken us this far. Now we're working together with several international research initiatives and universities. A number of studies are evaluating our technology and products.
